CAMPS BAY HIGH SCHOOL - ORANGE RIVER 2008 - DATE POSTED 12 FEBRUARY 2009
In the early hours of Saturday 27th September, a group of highly excited group of learners embarked on our annual Grade 11 Orange River trip to Namibia. They were accompanied by three teachers, Ms Dawson, Mr Cunliff and Mr Davey.
The journey took them from the cold of Cape Town into the paradise of sunshine in Namibia. The group experienced a true break from the norm and routine of school and work. They were guided by the highly experienced staff of Felix Unite on an unforgettable adventure.
The adventure was filled with days of relaxation, visual beauty and incredible sunsets. This was accompanied by the fun and games (river golf…) plus the excitement of rapids and an occasional national anthem or opera song from one of our own vocal soloists.
All were treated to on-river breakfasts, lunches and suppers that were exceptionally well prepared by the Felix Unite river guides – Derryne and Marchand. At night there were stories around the campfire which normally preceded peaceful entries into dreamland under the stars - on the banks of the Orange River.
The group had an unforgettable and bonding experience which will stay with them for the rest of their lives. All arrived home safely in Cape Town on Thursday 2nd October 2008. A truly amazing river adventure – Grade 11's – 2008.
